Pope to wed 20 couples in September– Marriage apps anyone?

Pope Francis announced Aug. 29 that he will preside at a wedding Mass of 20 couples on September 14. Of course, that date is the Feast of Triumph of the Holy Cross. Irony? A little papal humor? Perhaps those planning for marriage could use a little assistance in their preparation with the aid of an app. Here are a couple we recommend for marriage preparation:

Catholic-weddingCatholic Wedding (Free) Android. A marriage prep program by an Irish organization which conducts pre-marriage course instruction in Ireland in conformity with the Irish bishops’ episcopal conference. Although the program is tailored for preparation for the sacrament of matrimony in Ireland, most of the content is relevant to Catholics anywhere. While it cannot be used as a replacement for your diocese’s marriage preparation program, it certainly can offer useful and relevant information for your mutual journey to the altar. It offers a solidly Catholic view of marriage, according to developers, “informed by sacred scripture, Gaudium et Spes, Familiaris Consortio…” Core areas covered include:

  • Conflict resolution
  • Family Of Origin Influences
  • Sex and Sexuality
  • Money Management
  • Fertility
  • Marriage in the Church and State

Catholic-Marriage-audioAppMP3 Catholic Marriage (Free) iOS From developers: MP3 Catholic Marriage gives you hours of talks on topics related to Christian marriage from a sound Catholic perspective.  It addresses marital love, the roles of husband and wife, parenting and raising children, the role of the family, theology of the body, and a very unique series called The Marriage Of The Lamb that takes you through the Scriptural basis for Christian marriage as it relates to Christ as Bridegroom and the Church as His Bride.

Internet access is necessary to play the audio files as they are not downloaded to your device. The free version of the app gives you access to listen to some of the programs. Upgrade to the full version ($5.99) to have unlimited access to the complete series.
