Who we are

Catholic APPtitude is an online community created to serve the needs of people looking for mobile resources to help nurture their spiritual growth and Catholic faith life. Whether Catholic or not, you’re sure to find something in the Catholic digital media world that will inspire, challenge or refreshen your spiritual journey. Every point of contact whether as an app or a recording or a book is an invitation to get to know Jesus Christ and the Good News he brings to all.

The site was created and developed by content evangelist, Jennifer Kane, a secular Carmelite (OCDS), wife, mother, grandmother and avid Catholic app user who works in the field of corporate communications –BA Journalism; MA English. What began as an e-mail service responding to requests from priests and seminarians looking for quality Catholic apps for mobile devices has grown into a world-wide community of Catholic app enthusiasts looking for and recommending great Catholic apps. She previously served as communications director for the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels in Olean, NY where she authored the Vatican application for minor basilica status in 2016. From this work stemmed the history book of the basilica, A Place Set Apart. She previously authored the book, A Worthy and Capable Clergyman, the second part of this book in a slightly different format.

What we offer

Distilled for you in this site are the best of the top-rated mobile apps that appeal to a wide variety of uses and interests to adult Catholics. We make a diligent effort to ensure that all material adheres to the teaching magisterium of the Church. Catholic APPtitude operates in the Diocese of Buffalo (New York | USA) with permission by Most Rev. Richard Malone, Bishop of Buffalo, to use “Catholic” in our name.

Our work

We personally test drive most of the apps listed. To find the very best out there, we sift through top-10 lists, app awards and trusted Catholic blogs and web sites. We also consult Catholic clergy, seminarians and Catholic friends (including this site’s “recommendations” page) to find the top Catholic apps out there for iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPodTouch) Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Kindle and Nook. In short, we do all the work for you in locating quality Catholic apps and present them in a neat, orderly format for you to browse according to your needs and interests.

We take no advertising revenue and offer no promotions for developers.

A great resource to link on your web site!

The mobile app world is growing exponentially. It is difficult for many people to keep up with that task of updating their recommended apps pages or resources pages. We do all that for you. Simply link to our site and you can be assured of having the very latest updates at the fingertips of your web site’s audience. Ideal for diocesan or parish web sites, and Catholic ministries’ online offerings.
