Recover valuable memories: How to transfer VHS tapes to digital video

I used to use my son’s baptism video as a teaching aid to help young people learn about the Sacrament. It certainly helped him to engage the topic when it was his time. And that’s just one VHS video among dozens packed away in storage someplace. We took all that video of dance recitals, hockey games, grandparents’ anniversary parties, weddings, birthdays and family gatherings for a reason, did we not? And the clock is ticking. Keep in mind, this is for standard old-fashioned VHS format tapes only. If your videotape was taken on VHS-C (same tape width as standard VHS but in a smaller cassette) you need to use a special cassette adaptor. All other smaller digital video tape (Video8, Hi8, MiniDV, MicroMV) needs to be played through a compatible video camera.
