Passion of Jesus app half off and on the Watch

In honor of the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross  (September 14) developers of the  Passion of Jesus app  [iOS | Android] have reduced the price in half–from $1.99 USD to $.99 cents until September 21. In addition to the sale, its developer, Benedict Xavier, announces that the app is now available for the Apple Watch. This is most appropriate for this particular app because the use of it is so connected to the clock. That’s because the app is designed to engage you–in real time–in the last 24 hours of His life in such a manner that you walk with Our Lord as the events unfolded on that last day. As you can imagine, that real-time engagement is a creative way to increase the impact of the devotion.

Passion-of-Jesus-logoHere’s how it works: The events are put in sequence as found in Scripture and Sacred Tradition and, based on your local time, these precious moments are served to your device in the form of a respective passion image, a corresponding reflection (based on the collective writings of Saint Alphonsus de Ligouri), response and suggested prayer intentions. This passion timeline unfolds over a 24-hour period, but you can change this to other timelines to accommodate your schedule– 8 hours, 1 hour and 30 minutes.

On the Apple Watch,  Xavier explains, users can access the Daily Prayer to Jesus Crucified, the Passion 24/7 prayer and response, Passion prayers (including Precious Blood and Holy Wounds prayers) and finally the Stations of the Cross – by St. Liguori as well as the Stations through Mary’s eyes.

Xavier notes:

“The primary goal of this reflection is to engage believers to ponder and reflect on each aspect of the Passion by allowing time and eternity to intersect, by allowing the power of the cross to pour into our daily lives, no matter where we are or what we are doing….for a few moments, to pause and cast a glance at our Lord and permit this awesome, life-changing reality to bear fruit, to illumine, to set free and to save.”

Also included with this app are

  • Way of the Cross by St. Alphonsus Liguori
  • Way of the Cross through Mary’s eyes
